The Levers of Power

“Let your yes mean yes.  Your no, no.” Mathew 5.37

We sense that the levers are being handed off today to the new President; that when the million or so trudge in out of the cold, Mr. Obama will take his seat in the Oval Office for the first time and make his first executive decision.  It’s not a stretch to think it is mapped out, much like the first series of downs in an NFL football game.

We all have within our control similar levers.  They do not exert the same magnitude of effect, but they have an effect none the less.  Our main lever can be found in the authority of our word.  For this lever to work for us, it demands that our word be trustworthy.  Give your word today and then proceed to live up to those demands.  Experience how that act changes everything.

(Note: often it is hardest to give the word to our Self, keeping the promises tied to our dreams.  Keep your word to your dreams as well. )
